Are you excited about the prospect of starting your first online store, but you have no idea where to start? Don’t worry, I’ve been there too…
Is it too presumptuous to assume that you’re reading this because you need helping to start your first online store but not sure where to start? Perhaps you need a bit of extra cash or you have a cool idea for selling something? Or maybe you’re just tired of working for them man?
Hey, we’ve all gotta start somewhere and you’ve taken a major step forward by looking for help because that shows you want to succeed!
Founder of Digital Startup
It’s really frustrating having an idea but not having the skills to proceed with it. For me, I’m terrible at producing marketing artwork, which is annoying when I can’t get my idea on the screen.
But I have so much knowledge about eCommerce and Web Development that I know I can stop others from feeling that sort of frustration. And that’s why Digital Startup is full of useful facts on the matter.
How do I know so much?
First, I’ll tell you a little secret. It isn’t just me providing the content. I have friends in the eCommerce industry that also provide their expertise such as Search Engine Optimisation and Digital Marketing. And these people have been doing this for many years.
Secondly, I’ve spent my whole lifetime glued to a computer in some shape or form. And my main drive has been good website development. So much so, that it landed me a job for a FTSE 100 Company doing just that.
And third, I constantly love to read and do research. I get really excited when I learn something new because I get to share it with someone. Someone like you…
Why are we useful to you?
The content you will find at Digital Startup isn’t aimed at tech savvy people or seasoned entrepreneurs. Instead, we have written everything as if you are starting your first online store and we assume you have no nerd skills.
And you have no excuses not to find time to learn something new because we’ve taken the time to produce everything in multiple formats such as:
- eLearning Courses
Which means you can access us when you go to bed, when you’re on your break or even when on your daily commute.
Where do I start?
For starters, you will notice a tonne of free content on the website that’s accessible to everyone. However, by joining as a member (no cost) then you will unlock social features to interact with the community and receive useful emails to help you through your week.
Not only will you unlock more features, but you will also gain access to the eLearning section of our website where you can find bitesize courses and downloadable content.
Why does Digital Startup exist?
That’s easy. Over the years of developing and running eCommerce websites (and businesses), we would often stumble into a problem that we were not sure how to solve. This would generally lead to hours of research, where answers might be found in several locations with some contradiction. With this in mind, we wanted to create a central hub, aimed at total beginners (thus cutting out as much “jargon” as possible in the information we gave).
How do you make money?
At the time of writing this answer, we don’t make a penny. I’ve included a disclaimer in the footer about affiliation links in case we decided to pursue this. B at the moment, every cost has been paid for out our own pockets from our day jobs. But we’re pretty good at what we do, so we’ve not had to outsource that much so far.
Do you plan on making money?
In short, yes. We are a small team of 3, and Digital Startup was born in our spare time so wages were never an issue. As our dream starts to grow, I’d like to think we could earn an income from this so that we give Digital Startup the full-time hours that it deserves.
However, as far as we are concerned, we won’t charge anyone to access the wealth of knowledge we provide. At the time of writing, income sources may be generated through affiliation, donations and some eLearning Courses. But right now, we just wanted to grow our brand by not charging a penny.
Why are some features missing that you have links to?
We wanted to launch this year with everything ready, but it came apparent that we were being a little too ambitious. So we opted for a soft-launch, with placeholder ready for the features that were coming this year.
