This post is to acknowledge that the main Digital Startup site sucks!
What you will see is the 500th (feels like) reiteration of the website. This is what happens when you build a website without first knowing:
- Who your target audience is
- What your target audience wants
- What your own goals are
For the most part, the website was built with a vision in mind - Albeit, not very well thought out. In my head, I wanted:
- Somewhere to host articles
- Somewhere to build a community of like minded people
- A way to provide online courses
It’s become evidently clear over the past 12-18 months, that the only real use of the website is to Host supporting articles for the YouTube video.
When I first started YouTube, I pursued it as a marketing funnel to bring people to the website. Funny enough, it turned out to be the other way around.
It also turned out, that the platform that I use to host this forum was a great decision. This is because it’s “fit for purpose”. The only sad thing, is that it feels very disjointed from the main website.
As a web developer I will admit that I’m embarrassed by the main website. But as many of you may know already, I lack the time to really do the research or even do a rebuild. Plus, I’m still none-the-wiser as to what my viewers want.
Perhaps at some point, I’ll farm the work out to a local developer - Who knows. But if you’d like to contribute your ideas to what the new website should offer, feel free to let me know below.
